Overview

Our Iowa hunts take place in southern Iowa in Zone 5. Southern Iowa is known for its world class bucks and is a bucket list state for many hunters. Low hunting pressure, plenty of crops and food, and plenty of cover make for the perfect mix for these Iowa whitetails to grow to their potential. Iowa is a drawing state for non-resident tags. Currently in Zone 5 where my properties are located, it is taking approximately 5 points to draw an archery tag and 1 point to draw a shotgun or muzzleloader tag. The non-resident tag application process takes place during the month of May and you need to apply for points or your tag to be eligible to draw your tag. With that said, you do need to plan years in advance to book your Iowa hunt with us. We can determine what year you will draw and get you scheduled for that year with a minimal down payment. Our Iowa hunts book out years in advance and if you wait to book a hunt with us until the year you actually draw a tag, there will not be room. Feel free to contact me anytime and I can further assist you with the Iowa non-resident draw process and with booking a hunt the year you will draw a tag.

My Iowa hunts take place in Zone 5 over four different counties. They are a mixture of crop, timber, ditch lines, and CRP. We have amazing properties that have some incredible bucks on them. This is why you come to Iowa! I have a mixture of ladder stands, hang on stands, ground blinds, and elevated enclosed blinds that you will be hunting from. Most of the properties will have some type of clover or brassica food plot on them, and we also utilize the natural food sources that are on the properties from the crops. For my late season hunts, we buy back grain and leave standing beans or corn and concentrate on strictly late season food sources.

My Iowa hunts are 6 day hunts, but I do allow extra days at no extra charge if you do not tag out in those six days. You just waited multiple years to finally hunt Iowa, and we want you to take full advantage of that coveted tag and get you that trophy of a lifetime. We can further discuss extra days to continue hunting or dates that you would like to come back and hunt again if you are unsuccessful in your first six day hunt. Again, these extra days will be at no extra charge to you.

Lodging & Meals:

Lodging and meals are not provided with our Iowa hunts. Lodging is available in Chariton Iowa at Country Cabins or the Super 8 hotel. Most hunters stay at Country Cabins as their rooms include kitchens, bathrooms, and small dining areas. Feel free to contact me anytime and I can help you make your reservations. Either of these places are within driving distance of all my properties. Chariton does have a HYVEE grocery store along with multiple restaurants where you can get food if you wish.

To better increase our number of quality bucks, Buffalo County Outfitters has elected to enforce a 140 inch antler restriction with a $1500 penalty assessed for shooting a buck under this minimum.

We have over 80 preset treestands that are a mixture of Lone Wolf hang on stands, Muddy hang on stands, Millennium ladder stands, Muddy ladder stands, X-Stand ladder stands, and some Radix enclosed blinds.

Note: Safety harness is required when hunting any tree stand.
